Alarming statistics reveal the hidden link between mental well-being and our physical health. Did you know that:
✤ 1 in 4 people worldwide will be affected by a mental disorder at some point in their lives
✤ Depression is the leading cause of disability worldwide
✤ Mental health issues are a major risk factor for chronic physical conditions
And seeing my peers, I personally feel that it’s high time we take #MentalHealth VERY seriously. Here’s where it gets fascinating: our bodies, specifically our blood, can unveil essential insights into our mental health.
Consider this: Nutritional deficiencies, like low vitamin D or B12, can mimic depression. Hormonal imbalances, such as thyroid issues, can affect mood. Blood tests can uncover these hidden influencers.
Conditions like diabetes, cardiovascular disease, or autoimmune disorders can also impact mental well-being. Detecting and managing them through blood tests can safeguard our mental health.
The only solution is to embrace a holistic approach. Our minds and bodies are interconnected, and both need to be looked after. Personally, I’m immensely thankful to my baby for all the giggles and daily walks / cardio that keep both my mind and body ticking.
